I had the day off on Monday, so I hung out with my photographer friend in the Upper West Side. We stopped for lunch at this amazing Thai restaurant on 82nd Street: Amaze 82nd. That afternoon, I indulged in the best green curry chicken I’d ever tasted.
Green curry chicken is one of my favorite Thai dishes and I’ve had some pretty legit ones before, but Amaze 82nd nailed it from every aspect: the presentation triumphed on a colorful medley of vegetables and chicken, and the taste was simply delectable — tender chicken meat was cooked in coconut milk-infused green curry. Yummm.
Being bloated from lunch didn’t curb my crazy cookie craving because I knew that my favorite cookie shop, Levain Bakery was just several blocks away. And I couldn’t spend an afternoon in the Upper West Side and not get a Levain cookie, you know? That would be so wrong. So we made the trip there and I’m really glad we did, because I was reminded of how deliciously satisfying the dark chocolate and peanut butter cookie was. Peanut butter chips were embedded into the cracked surface of the cookie, and the cookie itself was this massive hunk of chocolate with a cake-like texture. It almost felt (and tasted) like a brownie.
After dessert, we finally walked over to the Museum of Natural History. Museums are some of my favorite places, and this museum holds a special place in my heart.
All in all, a fun Monday well-spent. 🙂
