Took a day trip to Baltimore a few weekends ago with my pals. It was a 3-hour drive from New York City, which wasn’t too bad since we had the iPod on shuffle and giant Pocky sticks to snack on. Our first stop was a market in downtown Baltimore, known for its famous Maryland crab cakes.
Best. Crab Cake. Ever.
Now that I’ve tasted the delicious Maryland crab cake, every other crab cake that’s not from Baltimore will seem like a phony attempt at the real thing. I’m sorry. I guess I ruined crab cakes for myself.
With bloated bellies, we left the market and drove over to our next destination: the Baltimore Aquarium. I have a love-hate relationship with the ocean. I would never snorkel or scuba dive because I have a phobia of being surrounded by sea creatures. I don’t mind looking at them up close if there’s a glass separating our worlds. But I wouldn’t like to share their space. However, I still think the ocean life is truly fascinating; such great depths that house countless creatures — some of which are still unknown to mankind. It’s a dark and daunting world down there, leaving in its wake a mystery that’s both intriguing and frightening.
Felt so blessed to travel with such an awesome bunch!
I miss them already.
