Behind The Scenes: 1986 Hair Studio Photoshoot

Hello! So ever since I got back to Malaysia, I’ve just been chilling and spending lots of time with my family and close friends. I’ve been taking it real slow — sleeping, eating at all the places I’ve missed, catching up with loved ones — and the reason I haven’t launched myself out into the job market yet is because I don’t know where I’m gonna end up few months from now. It could be Malaysia, it could be Singapore, it could even be Australia or back to New York City where my heart is. I have plenty of thinking and serious planning to do. It’s a rather strange feeling to see your own life fraying at the edges with all this uncertainty and anxiety about the future… and not knowing what to do about it.

Or maybe I just need a push because complacency isn’t the best place to be in. It’s certainly nice basking in freedom, but a part of me misses being busy.

I’ve been scouting for photography gigs to establish my work here in Malaysia. I bumped into Joanne (a talented photographer and high school friend) the other day and she invited me help out on a photoshoot that she was doing on Sunday. Her friend just launched a new salon — 1986 Hair Studio in Kota Kemuning — and he wanted posters to line the bare walls.

Joanne was the main photographer, but I managed to take a couple shots for my portfolio. It was a fun experience! Click here for photos from the photoshoot.

In the meantime, enjoy the behind-the-scenes pics!

Four hours later, it was a wrap! Everyone was so much fun to work with. Don’t forget to check out the photos here.

If you’re in Malaysia and would like to do a photoshoot, I’d be thrilled to hear from you 😉 Just shoot me an email: carissacygan@gmail.com.
