Beauty in Brokenness

While I was in Kuala Lumpur the other day, I was drawn to a cluster of broken walls and skeletal awnings. It dawned on me how easily areas like that go unnoticed, easily forgotten, and often dismissed as an eye-sore.

The contrasting colors and textures painted the picture of dissonance and detachment, an aging mess trapped in the middle of a booming urban jungle. A long time ago, those weather beaten walls once boasted a beauty of their own.

When you look beyond the surface, you’ll find beauty in brokenness.
