The Promenade: Day 5
In my opinion, the Promenade des Anglais is Nice’s best feature. Sure, there’s the Old Village and lots of boutiques and restaurants, but this pebbled beach trumps them all. I’ve always wanted to write by the sea, so I plopped down on the bluish gray pebbles and started to write.
Here’s an excerpt from my journal:
This feels like heaven on earth. I love the beach, I love the breeze, and I absolutely love this sunset. It’s amazing how God paints the sky with grace. The sky is melting into a mix of pastels, punctuated by puffy pink clouds and black rhythms of freedom.
I’m soaking all of this in because I know it won’t be long before I leave this place — the salty scent riding on the waves as they crash against the shoreline, the coldness of the wind as it wraps around my bare arms, the coldness of the pebbles beneath my feet.
This is the perfect picture of bliss.
